Calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) using either metric (kg/cm) or imperial (lb/in) units, and see which weight category your result falls into.
BMI (Body Mass Index) is a simple screening measurement calculated from your height and weight. The World Health Organization defines the standard adult categories as: Underweight (below 18.5), Normal weight (18.5–24.9), Overweight (25–29.9), and Obese (30 and above). BMI is a useful general indicator but does not account for muscle mass, bone density, or body composition, so athletes and very muscular individuals may show a higher BMI without excess body fat.
BMI is a general screening tool, not a diagnostic measurement. It works well for most adults but can be misleading for athletes, pregnant women, the elderly, and children. Consult a healthcare professional for a full assessment.
For most adults, a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered within the normal weight range.
BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². For imperial units, BMI = 703 × weight (lb) ÷ height (in)².
